Randy Brewer is no stranger to ArtPrize or the Holiday Inn Grand Rapids Downtown. This is Randy’s 7th time participating in the annual art competition and his 3rd year at the Holiday Inn. We love Randy’s work and are honored to have him back. His piece, On The Farm, depicts the farm life Randy was accustomed to as a child by way of a present day farm in rural, Northern Michigan. The painting conveys a peaceful mindset that should remind us all of the simpler times and the importance of coming together as a community. Take a break from the city streets and stop in to our lobby this fall to catch this stunning oil painting! The competition runs from September 20 – October 8, 2017.
Sticking with the native Grand Rapids artist theme from our previous post, Ashley Dupy is our third featured artist for ArtPrize Nine! Ashley’s piece, The Grand Rapids Experience, gives you a true sense of what our beautiful city is all about. Her work depicts iconic landmarks such as Frederik Meijer Gardens and Founders Brewing Company, among some other favorites! If you are not a native of the city and are wondering what we are all about, Ashley’s piece will tell you all that you need to know! Come check it out and let her piece guide you to your next adventure! The competition runs from September 20 – October 8, 2017.
The Holiday Inn Grand Rapids Downtown would like to introduce you to the second of our 13 featured artists for ArtPrize 2017. If you haven’t joined us for ArtPrize in past years, ArtPrize is an annual art competition that takes place in Grand Rapids each fall. This year, our lobby will feature artwork that showcases Grand Rapids and Michigan as a whole. Our second featured Artist is Charles Helmholdt and his wife Diane. Native to Grand Rapids, Charles and Diane are excited to make their return to the ArtPrize competition. Their piece, Grand Rapids 1999, offers a futuristic view of our city from a Victorian perspective. Inspired by their work with Euro Disney, this ink and pen drawing depicts specific Grand Rapids landmarks with an exaggerated, turn of the century, twist. Its beautiful antique frame will surely make it stand out! Don’t miss your opportunity to see such a fun piece!... Continue Reading
